The Explorer Hotel is the largest hotel in the Northwest Territories, offering 259 well-appointed guest rooms and suites. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Yellowknife and just five minutes from the airport, the hotel combines modern comfort with warm northern hospitality.

If you’d like to extend your stay, Destination Canada has secured a preferred event rate starting at $240 per night (plus fees and taxes) for up to three days before and after the event, based on availability. Please indicate your requested check-in and check-out dates during registration and a team member will be in touch to confirm.

Travel:

How will I get to the hotel from the airport and between events?

Upon your arrival in Yellowknife, please make your way to the baggage claim area and look for the Incentive Canada representative. You will be escorted to your transfer vehicle, which will take you directly to the hotel.
During the program, Destination Canada will provide all transportation to and from group activities.

**Partners, please note that group transfers will be provided on Monday, March 9 and Friday, March 13.  If you arrive earlier or depart outside of the group dates, we kindly ask that you arrange your own transportation to and/or from the hotel.

What do I need in order to travel to Canada?

To travel to Canada, you must have a valid passport. Canadian and US citizens do not require anything further. However, citizens of other countries may require an
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or a visa, depending on nationality and mode of travel.

Destination Canada has put together this helpful video to walk you though the eTA process. This step-by-step guide explains how to find out whether you need an electronic travel authorization (eTA), a visitor visa (temporary resident visa)—or neither—then walks you through the entire application process.

To assist with your entry requirements into Canada, we have obtained a Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) clearance letter for Incentive Canada. To expedite border procedures, we recommend that all international attendees have a copy of this letter ready for presentation to the CBSA Border Services officer upon their arrival to Canada. It will be sent to you via email prior to the start of the program.

What should I wear?

There is no hiding it, the North is cold during the winter months. That said, March is the most pleasant time to visit Yellowknife in the winter. The days are still cold, but the sun shines bright.

Temperatures in March have an average high of -12°C (10°F) and lows of -24°C (-11°F). We recommend bringing layers including winter snow pants, a warm jacket, hats, gloves and winter boots for walking to and from offsite programming.

For everyone’s comfort, we are offering complimentary winter gear rental through a local company. Depending on what you already own, you can choose to rent a full outfit, including jacket, pants, gloves, tuque and boots, or just certain items. Please make your selections as part of the registration process. Once registered, you can also contact the Incentive Canada team via email to enquire, or we will have a more limited selection available at the Incentive Canada hospitality suite in the hotel.

When indoors, business casual is recommended—wear what you are comfortable in.
